Treat out to help out.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced the budget for 2021 and we were on the lookout for sector support for the beauty industry that contributes almost 30 Billion a year to the economy.
We thought we’d take this opportunity to share our view as a small business and speak up for the salon owners. Yes, there has been some government support but the reality is that the funding is just not enough and we feel the government has abandoned our sector which is heavily operated by the self employed.
As many small businesses, rent still needs to be paid as well as insurance who have often increased their premiums whilst covering less. Furthermore, Employers NI, pensions, holidays, maternity pay and VAT are monthly outgoings and HMRC are not offering formal extensions. Those who have been able to secure loans are indebted to making the repayments and some have secured these loans against their homes. Salon owners don't get furlough so they are trying to stay afloat and survive with no income. Those that have not gone under are maintaining these costs, so that employees have jobs to go back to and creative individuals have the opportunity to share their passions and talents and to give back to their communities once again.
This hardship really is a test of resilience and we want to stress that when restrictions ease and businesses are allowed to open, supporting your local small businesses, independent community hubs and local entrepreneurs, would mean the world to them. Support them so that they continue to care, serve and invest in the well-being of your community and it's future.
We hope that the roadmap expectations are met and the number of covid cases continue to fall. Lifestyles will change and so will our practices to adapt and accommodate. Therefore, we are working incredibly hard to deliver a new space so that we are restricted as little as possible in delivering you the best possible services as we recover from this.
Immense love and thanks to all our supporters for your good vibes, not long to go now ;-))
Stay safe and ciao for now.
